Students were asked to draw from their memory what an Oreo looks like. This took about 5- 10 minutes. After students completed their drawings the class discussed the difficulties of drawing something with out looking at it. Students recognized that this task was difficult because they usually give into temptation and eat a cookie before observing its intricate details.
After this discussion students were asked to observe a real Oreo and test their patience by drawing the details with out eating it!
(If you were absent for this lesson: please practice it on your own time. It is suggested you use an Oreo, but any cookie will do. The observational drawing should take around 20 minutes. Bring both drawings into class so you can get credit.)
