Thumbnail Sketches

After looking at a photographed image of a plant, students were asked to look at a real plant. Students were introduced to the function of thumbnail sketched to help them in planning for their final drawing (one should always plan for their final drawing/painting before jumping right into a final drawing). Using what they know about the principles of design students were expected to study the plant and plan 5 or more thumbnail compositions. Students did this in their sketchbooks.

After planning for about two days students began to enlarge their thumbnail sketches. In class on Monday September 28th students were taught enlarging techniques in which they could do this (come to extra help if you missed this!). Reminder: it is important you use the thumbnail sketch to help you plan your large drawing but LOOK AT THE REAL PLANT FOR DETAIL!!!!!!
